TV Analytics: Making sense of the TV experience across multiple screens
A Chartered Engineer who studied Electrical and Information Sciences at the University of Cambridge, Ian has worked in both the defence and telecommunications industries on projects ranging from radar signal processing to multimedia delivery, and has spent over 10 years leading applications-related research within BT.
Ian currently co-ordinates research in the fields of multi-screen entertainment, TV data analytics and enhanced audio communication, with the aim of helping BT to develop differentiated products for its consumer and business customers. In 2013 he created a multi-disciplinary programme of research which brings together diverse big data sets to improve BT’s understanding of its TV customers and how their experience relates to the complex platforms used to deliver TV.
Open Innovation is core to Ian’s work, built around successful collaborations with leading industrial and academic organisations across Europe – and most recently with Ulster University in the new BT Ireland Innovation Centre.
